REISSER Schraubentechnik GmbH puts state-of-the-art logistics centre in Osterburken into operation

Go-live on 2 June 2025 marks milestone for efficiency, digitalisation and sus-tainability

REISSER Schraubentechnik GmbH celebrated the official launch of its new logistics centre in the Osterburken Regional Industrial Park (RIO) on a small scale. The symbolic go-live with the first bucket of screws in storage marks the starting point of a future-orientated logistics strategy.

The start of operations marks the end of an intensive planning and construction phase that began back in 2017. The ground-breaking ceremony in 2022 marked the realisation of the project. Around 45 million euros were invested in state-of-the-art warehouse technology, automated processes and a future-proof infrastructure. A high-tech logistics hall with around 20,000 square metres and an energy-efficient administration building that meets the KfW 40 standard were built on an area of four hectares. The decision in favour of the new building in Osterburken was made because the space available at the company headquarters in Ingelfingen-Criesbach had been completely exhausted.

The first few months of operation will focus on the gradual commissioning and filling of the high racks. These offer capacity for 18,500 pallets. Six autonomous narrow-aisle forklift trucks and nine self-propelled industrial trucks ensure the smooth movement and storage of goods. The system is supplemented by a fully automated Autostore system with 75,000 bins - the basis for highly efficient picking and dispatch processes while optimising space utilisation.

"With the new logistics centre in Osterburken, we are systematically driving forward the digitalisation and automation of our processes while creating a central platform for our entire warehouse logistics. We can use the space that will become available in Criesbach for the extension of our machinery. This will enable us to further expand our production and continue our growth trajectory," says Managing Director Alexander Kimmerle.

The gradual relocation of warehouse activities from Ingelfingen-Criesbach and the previous external warehouses to Osterburken will take place over a period of around three months. This transition marks the next logical step towards a fully centralised warehouse structure - with clear advantages: reduced complexity, less logistical coordination effort and improved response times along the entire supply chain.

The new logistics centre also sets standards in terms of sustainability: a large-scale 996 kWp photovoltaic system, concrete core temperature control using a heat pump, 5 E-charging stations with a total of 10 charging points and an energy-efficient building envelope ensure resource-conserving and climate-friendly operation. The expansion of further charging points in the employee car park has already been prepared. The project is currently in the middle of the DGNB certification process - the aim is to achieve silver certification. The DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) evaluates construction projects holistically according to ecological, economic, technical and socio-cultural criteria. The extensive documentation, its review and the implementation of the biodiversity concept are currently underway. The official certificate will be issued in the coming weeks.

"The past few months have been challenging for everyone involved - so the entire team deserves all the more respect for the professional implementation. An equally exciting phase is now beginning: in the coming weeks, the aim is to consolidate and further develop new systems, processes and working methods in everyday life," says Project Manager and Head of Logistics Matthias Essig.

In the long term, it is planned that around 60 employees from Ingelfingen-Criesbach will work at the new location in Osterburken. The centralisation of logistics processes will not only result in greater availability and shorter throughput times, but also improved service quality for customers worldwide.

The choice of location in the RIO intermunicipal industrial estate was strategic: the excellent road and rail connections and the proximity to the company headquarters in Ingelfingen-Criesbach offer optimal conditions for the logistics of the future.

With the successful go-live and the ramp-up now beginning, REISSER Schraubentechnik is reaffirming its role as an innovative manufacturer of fastening and connecting elements "Made in Germany".
