Start of the "Save the vineyard tulip" project

From April to May, wild tulips (also known as vineyard tulips), field yellow stars and grape hyacinths often bloom in the old vineyards of the Hohenlohe district, transforming the vineyards into a delicately scented sea of blue and yellow flowers every spring. The vineyard tulip is a floristic speciality in the vineyards.

REISSER would like to support species conservation and protect the small populations of the vineyard tulip. In our region, the vineyard tulip can be found in vineyards, on fallow land and on roadsides in Ingelfingen, Niedernhall and Weißbach.

Today, populations of the vineyard tulip and its plant community are declining. This is due to the increased use of pesticides in agriculture or the active planting of grasses in the vineyard alleys. Mowing in the growing season from December to July can also harm the plants.

In autumn 2023, REISSER launched the "Save the vineyard tulip" project. The first step was to organise a tulip planting campaign at the Criesbach location under the patronage of the REISSER trainees. The entire REISSER workforce was also given the opportunity to take part in the tulip planting campaign. Tulip bulbs were distributed for the home garden and were very popular. Further campaigns are planned for 2024.
